Hello Great to see another website for ladybird books. I e-mailed Wikipedia in sheer frustration about the lack of information about Eric Winter and then some appeared! In my opinion Eric Winter is the best artist ever. I spent hours staring at those pictures when I was small. I have managed to find most of the 606D series again and my next mission is to track down some original artwork (hopefully from one of the books), win the lottery and buy it all!
Ladybird Books are known and loved throughout the world, and for millions of people they bring back the cosy and colourful days of childhood - learning to read, discovering the magic of books, and growing up - this blog is for Ladybirders and memory-laners . . . enjoy!
Hi all - thanks for visiting my blog . . . my name is Robert, but I prefer to be called Rab. I run a fairly popular website regarding vintage Ladybird books.
My website has a wealth of information regarding Ladybird Books and has all the titles published between 1940 and 1980 listed in a searchable database.
Whether you want to find out if your Ladybird book is a first edition, read a synopsis for a particular title or find some informtion regarding the authors and illustrators then The Wee Web is the place for you - www.theweeweb.co.uk
I also research and catalogue information regarding authors and illustrators from all over the world. When I can find the time I lightly collect 17th - 19th century Scottih folklore, witchcraft, second-sight, myths and legends - I also collect books on Scottish islands and have a particular interest in Mull and Iona - if you have anything in this way then give me a wee shout.
